“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” – Mary Oliver, 1990

In our initial meeting we will address your concerns and hopes for the days, weeks, and years ahead. I may begin by inquiring what brings meaning and joy to your life. Learning more about the whole person establishes a realistic picture of an individual’s situation, relationships, strengths, and interests before we delve into the concerns and problems that brought you to my office. We then work in a collaborative effort to relieve suffering, to promote self-acceptance, to process transitions, traumas, and losses, and to resolve barriers to healthier relationships and a fully engaged life.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Expressive Arts, a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Idaho. My clinical experience has been in community mental health in Washington State, where I counseled a diverse population of individuals, couples, and families experiencing temporary and chronic mild to severe mental health challenges, interruptions to maturity and development, relationship problems, career issues, and addictions. Continuing education is an important component of my practice in order to remain informed of current research and effective evidence based treatment.

My therapeutic orientation is founded on developmental, attachment, existential, and family systems theories. My approach is client centered, strength based, and solution focused, delivered through reparative emotional and cognitive theories of change. I draw from multiple theoretical concepts as may benefit the individual, couple, and family. Therapy can introduce new perspectives and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on applying these outside the therapy hour to manage the burdens of anxiety and depression. I welcome adults, adolescents, and children into my office and support each person’s efforts toward healing, health, and personal growth.

To balance my work I enjoy time in nature with friends and family. Having a great fondness for the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, I maintain an active interest in preserving our natural heritage.
